Croatia Takes Official Ownership of Rafale Fighter Jets. No More MIG-21s!
Croatia has proudly declared to have taken official ownership of six Rafale Fighter Jets out of the ordered 12 no, indicating a major milestone in its efforts to modernise its air force. This move places Croatia among the important group of countries, including India and the UAE, that have procured this advanced French fighter jet for their air forces. The decision to choose French Rafale comes is part of Croatia’s aim to retire its ageing fleet of MIG-21 Jets, which have been a mainstay of its air force for decades. With the Rafale fleet, Croatia will ensure the security of its airspace against evolving threats.
The negotiated value of the deal stands at approximately USD 1.15 billion, including the simulators and support services as well until the end of 2026.
Besides bolstering the air force capabilities, Croatia’s ownership of the Rafale Fighter Jets is also seen as a strategic move towards becoming stronger among NATO members.
