Agni-V flight test with MIRV is successful. The Defence Research & Development Organization (DRDO) of India has achieved a significant milestone with the successful maiden flight test of Agni-V, armed with Multiple Independently Targetable Re-entry Vehicle (MIRV) technology. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has extended congratulations to DRDO for this scientific feat, heralding a new era in Indian defence capabilities. The test’s success is poised to elevate India’s strategic position, particularly in the Indian Ocean region.

Agni-V, classified as an Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM), boasts MIRV capability, enabling India to strike targets within a range of 5000-6000 kilometres. This advancement not only bolsters India’s Nuclear Triad Capability but also instils confidence in its armed forces, particularly those safeguarding borders against neighbouring adversaries.

The inclusion of indigenous avionics and precise sensor systems in Agni-V underscores its status as a formidable and classified weapon. This technological feat not only asserts India’s prowess in missile technology but also contributes significantly to the balance of power in South Asia, enhancing global security.

The successful launch took place from Abdul Kalam Island in Odisha, An Eastern Indian State, meeting all designated flight test parameters. The achievement brings joy to the scientists at DRDO, further solidifying India’s position as a technologically advanced player in the realm of defence. Notably, a night trial of the missile had already been successfully completed in 2022, setting the stage for this latest triumph.
