Donald Trump Sworn In as 47th President: “America’s Decline is Over”, Says Trump

Donald Trump took the oath as the 47th President of the United States on Monday, signifying his return to the White House for a second term after a decisive victory in the presidential election. He overcame assassination attempts and declared in his speech that God had saved him for a reason: to make America great again.

The historic Capitol Rotunda witnessed this peaceful transition of power in the world’s oldest democracy, amidst both concerns and cautious expectations for the new president. Vice President JD Vance was also sworn in at the same event. This time, the oath-taking ceremony was held indoors instead of the traditional location on the Capitol’s West Lawn, due to unfavorable weather predictions.

While it is important and urgent to monitor the next steps his administration will take on various issues, such as the Gaza-Israel crisis, facilitating a respectable exit for the Russian President from the war in Ukraine, and other critical internal matters, let us first review the bunch of bills signed by Donald Trump as President of the United States immediately after the oath-taking ceremony.

Withdrawal from the World Health Organization (W.H.O)

Citing the mishandling of the COVID-19 pandemic as one of the many reasons, President Donald Trump has decided that the U.S. will withdraw from the World Health Organization (W.H.O). Mr. Trump believes that the W.H.O unfairly demands higher payments from the U.S. compared to other global powers, particularly China.

As a result, U.S. disease control and prevention efforts will lose access to W.H.O. data, which could undermine the country’s global position in the health sector. This decision may also impose significant constraints on the U.S. in the event of another pandemic.

However, President Donald Trump has remained a strong critic of the disproportionately large share that the U.S. is required to contribute to the W.H.O. As part of the process, the U.S. must provide a one-year notice before formally exiting the organization and fulfill all financial obligations within that timeframe or negotiate new terms to continue to stay in the W.H.O.

Withdrawal from the Paris Climate Accord

As expected, President Donald Trump signed a bill, to again exit from the Paris Climate Accord, that aims to lower the emissions around the world and control the global warming.

Mr. Trump has always said the Paris Climate Accord is one sided & creates unnecessary burdens on energy production & use.

President Trump, in his inaugural speech, promised to impose a national energy emergency and simplify the process of review & environmental permissions.

Immigration Control:

In his inaugural speech, Trump announced plans to declare a national emergency at the southern border. On Monday night, he signed the order in the Oval Office, authorizing the deployment of Pentagon resources and personnel to construct the border wall.

Shortly after the oath taking ceremony, the use of an app that allowed migrants to notify U.S. Customs and Border Protection of their intent to enter the country and schedule asylum appointments was discontinued.

Additionally, Trump signed an order aimed at redefining birthright citizenship, which grants American citizenship to anyone born in the United States.

Reversing Orders Issued by President Biden:

President Donald Trump annulled nearly 78 orders issued by President Joe Biden, including the revocation of permission for transgender individuals to join the U.S. Armed Forces and the requirement for executive branch appointees to sign an ethics pledge.

Delay the Ban on Tiktok:

As promised, Donald Trump signed an executive order on Monday extending the deadline for TikTok’s parent company to secure a new owner or face a ban in the United States.

The order instructs the U.S. Justice Department not to enforce the Foreign Adversary Controlled Applications Act, a law passed with bipartisan support in Congress and signed in April by former President Joe Biden. This legislation mandated TikTok’s ban in the U.S. by January 19 unless it was sold to a buyer from the U.S. or one of its allies.

However, TikTok’s future in the U.S. remains uncertain, as it is unclear whether its China-based owner, ByteDance, would agree to a sale, even if brokered by Trump. The new executive order extends the deadline by 75 days.

Pardons & Commutations for January 6 Convicts:

Donald Trump has announced a pardon for most individuals charged in the January 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol.

In the Oval Office on Monday, President Trump stated that his pardons would cover “approximately 1,500 for a pardon – full pardon.”

Prosecutors had charged over 1,580 people in connection with the January 6 events, securing about 1,270 convictions. This means that Trump intends to pardon nearly all individuals charged in relation to the attack, effectively bringing an end to all January 6-related cases.

Fourteen individuals, including prominent leaders of the Proud Boys and Oath Keepers convicted for their involvement in the attack, had their sentences commuted to time served.

Trump’s order fulfilled a promise he made throughout his campaign and as recently as hours before signing the pardons. However, he had never hinted at the massive scope of the pardons he was planning.

“Tonight, I’m going to be signing on the J6 hostages, pardons, and as soon as I leave, I’m going to the Oval Office, and we’ll be signing pardons for a lot of people,”

Donald Trump, President of the United States

President Donald Trump has also declared on the 1st days of his presidency, that U.S. Policy, from now on, will recognize 2 genders only, male & female. Trump stated that his administration will strive to create a “merit-based” and “colorblind society.” This initiative is part of his broader plans to reform U.S. government policies on gender and diversity, with a particular focus on targeting Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) programs.

The world has always been America first, whether it’s the global monetary order dominated by the U.S. Dollar, American universities leading the world in science and technology, the U.S. serving as an example of a mature democracy for 250 Years, or America triggering the re-industrialization of Japan and South Korea, creating a system that mostly benefits America.

The dominant U.S. Armed Forces are deployed worldwide, and America has always been a leader in nearly all global affairs, contributing to reshaping the world. Apart from the rapid growth of China in last few decades and resurgence of Russia under Vladimir Putin, it shows that America has always been first in the world, rightly or wrongly.

Hence, it is both interesting to see, though difficult to understand, how President Donald Trump will define his second term and how he plans to prove his electoral war cry, “Make America Great Again.”
