India’s first private sector Vacuum Arc Remelting (VAR) furnace for aerospace-grade titanium alloy production has been commissioned at Lucknow by an Indian Private Company, i.e. PTC Industries, that will boost India’s self-reliance in critical aero-space materials. This state-of-the-art facility, operated by Aero-alloy Technologies (a subsidiary of PTC Industries), marks a very important moment in India’s capabilities to manufacture aero-space or defense grade titanium alloy.
The facility has an impressive annual melting capacity of 1,500 Metric Tonnes, capable of producing titanium alloy ingots with diameters up to 1,000 mm and weights reaching 10 Metric Tonnes.
