North Korea tests Anti-ship Missile (Padasuri-6)- KCNA

North Korea

North Korea has reportedly carried out a successful test of a new anti-ship missile in the Sea of Japan. The missile struck a pre-designated target boat in the sea, located to the east of the Korean peninsula.

According to KCNA, a Korean News Agency, their supreme leader Kim Jong Un personally came to oversee the launch of this missile, named as Padasuri-6. This addition to the North Korean Navy’s arsenal significantly solidifies their naval capabilities and worsens tensions with South Korea.

The series of missile tests by North Korea poses a grim threat to the navigation of United States aircraft carriers in the Sea of Japan and military installations in Japan.

In retaliation, the United States and South Korean Air Forces executed a missile interception drill on February 23, 2024, above the Korean peninsula, that involved advanced F-35A Fighter Jets.

Reportedly, at G-20 venue, Rio-de-Janeiro, diplomats from the United States, South Korea, and Japan have discussed to fortify their joint response capabilities to mitigate North Korea’s alarming missile tests and aggressive behaviour.
