US Taiwan Arms Deal has been signed for $2 billion. In a pivotal move to boost Taiwan’s defense capabilities, the United States has approved a $2 billion arms deal with the island country. This contract includes air defense systems & radars aimed at improving Taiwan’s capabilities to deter potential threats.
Key Components of the Deal
The US Taiwan Arms Deal comprises a range of sophisticated military equipment, including:
- NASAMS– National Advanced Surface to Air Missile Systems, which has shown great success in Ukraine-Russia War, enabling Ukraine to safeguard their strategic locations against the mighty Russian missile & drone assaults. NASAMs is equipped with highly effective AIM-120 & AMRAAM Missiles, which will detect targets at 300 KM and engage with targets as low as up to 50 KM,
- AN/TPS-77 and AN/TPS-78 radar turnkey systems- This is a long-range radar system and has a versatile transportation configuration of being capable of moved by C-130, Helicopter, Train or simply A Truck. Its tracking range is more than 500 KM.
- Combat Drones: High-tech unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) will enhance surveillance and reconnaissance capabilities.
- Naval Defense Systems: Upgraded naval defense systems to protect Taiwan’s maritime borders.
The US-Taiwan Business Council welcomed this US Taiwan Arms deal finalized by the U.S. just week before the U.S. Elections. DSCA also has given necessary clearance for the FMS- Foreign Military Sales, that will play a role in upholding U.S. influence in the Indo-pacific region.
